The Football Player Summit, is an Independent and non-aligned event, which will discuss strategies on how football’s stakeholders could work together for the benefit of all Football Players. It will take place in South Africa on 6-8 July 2017 and it will be the third edition of the Forum where the interest of football players will be the main focus point of the agenda. The Summit will be a gathering of Football players, past and present, agents, unions, clubs, leagues and federations respectively. I will also host the first ever African Football Legends Awards.
Football’s key stakeholders are once again set to convene to discuss pertinent issues around the interests of the game’s most important asset, i.e. the player and how they should start working closer together to look after the welfare of this vital asset. The main aim of the Forum is to create a platform for stakeholders to have regular interaction on burning issues around representation by unions and agents in transfers and contract negotiations as well as forming sustainable partnerships to at all times promote the interests of the players.
CAF has also adopted the Club Licensing System and the Forum will have a full debate on how all stakeholders could use the System to protect their interests at large. The System talks about banning clubs, which have failed to fulfill their financial obligations to players and the Forum, will discuss how stakeholders could use these regulations to engage clubs on their outstanding commitments. It will also debate critical issues pertaining to the impact of the FIFA Intermediary Regulations and the new Transfer Management System (TMS), which will be adopted by all FA’s and how it will affect an agent’s business.
Football Business Network to be launched at the Summit
The African Chapter of the proposed World Football Business Network (WFBN) will be launched at the Summit, which is a platform for players, past and present as well as football agents to meet with each other and to talk potential business opportunities and partnerships. Speed networking sessions will see delegates being match with others who have similar business interests and to nurture such potential business links. Business Profiles of each attendee will be distributed beforehand to all other delegates to facilitate these meetings. Meetings could also be facilitated with businesses that are not necessarily attending the Summit.
African Football Legends Awards
This inaugural awards program for past players will be held during the Summit giving recognition to those who have graced our football pitches with their presence and contributed to the development of the game in Africa. The football media from each country will nominate a legend and our esteemed panel of football personalities will vote for the winners in each category.
Overall, the Summit will set the agenda to develop a common vision that will create a win-win situation for all those involved in the beautiful game.
