Sports conference to launch industry alliance
Johannesburg – The South African Sports Industry Alliance (SASIA) will officially be launched at the Sports Partnership Conference on 1-2 March 2018 in Johannesburg.
SASIA will be a non-governmental entity and it will only grant membership to structures, which are not sport codes.
SASIA will become a single voice for sports industry stakeholders and it will consists of various chambers representing the likes of academies, sports lawyers, agents, journalists, sports science, medical and high performance practitioners, venues, administrators and executives, coaches, equipment and sports wear suppliers, golf courses, sponsorship and marketing agencies, dieticians and nutrition advisors, physiotherapists, social change sports organisations and educational bodies, etc.
The Conference is designed in such a way to allow each participating sector room to discuss and launch their own respective Chambers, which will fall under the banner of SASIA.
According to organiser, Gerrit Davids, MD of Gerom Media, Sports & Entertainment, “the primary aim of the Conference is to create a single entity to escalate the total integration of all the sports industry stakeholders into a single structure and to learn from lessons and best practices from around the world. Also, while the government, sport federations and associations will also be invited to participate in the Conference, membership will only be open to industry stakeholders.”
Davids says, “The first day of the Conference will focus on managing sport and development through sustainable stakeholder partnerships inclusive of social change agencies, service providers, suppliers and those who are actively involved in sport.”
“It will be followed on the second day with a roundtable discussion on the role of the sports industry to make South Africa a ‘winning nation” as well as a dedicated Sponsorship Forum.”
The Conference is endorsed by African Sports Institute (ASI), a division of Gerom Media Sports & Entertainment in partnership with the Sport, Poverty relief, Recreation, Education, Arts and Culture, Development Foundation (SPREAD).
